Tsunami and the moon

There is no potential for tsunami to reach Gorontalo from today's huge earthquake in Japan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those whose family and friends are affected by this disaster.

Oddly enough, the moon is approaching its closest position to the earth in the last 20 years. This will occur at the full moon on March 19th. Higher than usual tides are expected. It remains to be seen what other effects we will see the in marine environment here in Gorontalo.
